Savannah River Lighthouse Tree Conversion

Tree Lighthouse

Bob Chaplin has added a new page to Lighthouse Landscaping by carving a Lighthouse out of his dead tree! After delimbing his dead tree, the wooden pole was notched to look like brickwork and his 34-foot tall Tree Beacon was painted to look like a small replica of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.

Bob’s Backyard Beacon lights the way for boaters navigating the Savannah River in Georgia. According to the news, there has been no boat wrecks on the river since he activated his private Lighthouse!

Chaplin’s Lighthouse slogan is, “If you get lost at night, I’ll leave the light on for you.” Is there a Motel 6 nearby? wink.gif

  5. Hi Speedcat Arbor Eat em`,

Frederick Law Olmsted, my great great Grandfather, whispered his design idea for the perfect Tree Lighthouse: build a large circular observation deck for a 360° panoramic view of the coast
    would please us most!

The design of circular observation deck named the “Arbor-éat-em” includes a 7- person hot tub, a large stone BBQ grill for Honey Barbecue Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken, and large hammocks for grandparent naps after work! The “Arbor-éat-em” will be covered by Arbor shades. For safety, a large circular grandchildren playroom would be built on the ground floor to keep 20 grandchildren busy and happy!

  6. Awesome! While many things in this world are incredible, interesting, and down right amazing, I often wonder …. where do the creators find the time / ambition?
When I get home from work, all I want to do is visit “New England Lighthouse Treasures” – and then nap.
    Grampa Hollydale! Grampa Hollydale!!
Why you gotta be that way …..
    Grampa Hollydale! Grampa Hollydale!!
    I see my hair-line slipping away ….

I would like to climb this tree and yell to the inhabitants of the Earth, “I love this lighthouse, and with Moneypennie’s help, I will never come down!”

What is the meaning and moral to this story? You guessed it, another great experience to blog about. One cannot live on chicken alone, although I have tried.
